Had a hard time getting motivated to get out today and had I reached Bill before he left I probably would have talked him out of going.....and would have missed a great day. The fog on the Summits lifted and the winds ramped up as predicted by MWO. About 5 to 10 below with 50 mph + gusts. Hard to stand on the summit. Views were spectacular but I will have to look at my pics to see the views as it was point click and leave. THanks to the two folks ahead of us who did a great job breaking until a 100 yards or so from the open ledges which were scoured. There was another hiker in spikes who swore using snowshoes would be harder. Say That Again!! But he did switch at the summit. There were several groups behind us so the trail should be well packed. On the steeps the new snow was thigh deep so hats off to the two hikers who broke it. |
