| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty at the hiker lot at base station. The road itself is ice and snow so be careful. Although my Ford Focus with only all weather tires did fine. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Drifts, Snow/Ice - Postholes |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction, Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All were bridged or able to be hopped over. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The upper Ammo trail is riddled with postholes and hard to travel. Kudos to who ever laid out the whack although on the way back down, I followed the trail. I'm hoping that my butt sledding straightened out some of those postholes. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Isis the Shiba Inu wonder pup did a fantastic job tackling the elevation gain on the Ammo trail and really impressed quite a few on the trail today. One other pup interrupted Isis' snack time at the Gem pool towards the end of the day. I hope he had a good day. This trail is not for all dogs due to steepness in the winter time. |

| Bugs: |
None. |

| Comments: |
Great day for Monroe... Low winds at the summit and views all around. Even if it was not a bluebird day, I still enjoyed the trip. Ammo is in good shape up until tree line where the post holes take over. This was very tiring on the ascent due to uneven footing. Ice around the hut and then crusty snow to the summit of Monroe. A great day with good conditions. |
