| Comments: |
Made first tracks up Jewell trail all the way to Mt.Jefferson.
Jewell is rough due to previous barebooting for about the first mile.
Above treeline a mixture of hard and soft drifts but easy going with snowshoes on snow fields. Gulfside the same but watch for hidden ice.
Snowshoes worked well using snowfields but light traction or crampons could be used.Watch for soft spots where you might break through.
There is good track now on Jewell trail from Carl R. group behind us.
Beautiful day today with lots of sunshine and little or no wind.
Great day out with Hiker Ed. who completed his 5th grid on Jefferson.
Enjoy the trail before the barebooters beat it up. |
