Comments
Comments: Started early, but was unfortunately foiled by bogus weather reports of clear summits. Everything in the clouds today, only managed peek-a-boo views once and awhile while up on the ridge. Used spikes up until Lonesome Lake, where I donned the new snowshoes (first time!) to get through drifts that had blown off the lake. I was breaking trail the rest of the way, although it was only a couple of inches of fresh powder on top of packed trail. Kept snowshoes on for entire ascent, then back to spikes for the way down (the Tubbs Flex Alps are great!). Coming down Fishin' Jimmy was tough, lots of sliding and fell a couple times. Only one out of the Kinsmans that day, I didn't see anyone else all day until back at Lonesome. Some knee-deep drifts up on the Kinsman Ridge trail. Even with the tough day, still better than being indoors.
