Comments
Comments: It was a very cold day. 0F at the trailhead, 2F at the Carter Notch Hut and -2F at the Carter Dome summit with -18F wind chills.

Trails were in good condition with about 3" of new snow. Some drifts around the lake in the notch and going up the Carter-Moriah trail to the Dome were up to 3' deep so we kept our snowshoes on but at times I think they also made it harder, some places cramp-ons would have been much better. If I did it again in same conditions I would have worn light traction to the hut and cramp-ons over the summit and down the other side and just deal with the occasional drifts.
