Parking/Access Road Notes: winter parking - adds a few miles for sure but it's flat.

Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction 
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Only tricky section is the frozen waterfall just below the Garfield campsite coming from Galehead. 
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in great shape. Much more snow on the Galehead part of this hike and the Garfield ridge trail than on the trail to Garfield which was hardpacked.

Comments: If you are just doing Garfield, micros are perfect but if you are doing the Garfield ridge, keep in mind there is a LOT of snow. We wore snowshoes almost the whole day until we got farther down the Garfield trail. We did Galehead first (snowshoes all the way up), then the ridge, then Garfield, then back down.
