Trails
Trails: Carter-Moriah Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, January 10, 2015
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We parked on Bangor Street, by the trailhead. No issues with parking, but we were the only ones on the trail for quite some time. There was only one other couple that we saw on the trail as we were descending, so two cars were parked by the residences in total.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Ice - Black, Ice - Blue, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Drifts, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable)
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A lot of blowdowns as you progress the trail, and it makes for some interesting turns in the trail (through low brush, over downed trees, etc.). Be wary of your pack, as mine got caught on a lot of branches avoiding many a blow-down!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No dogs today, but the snow may be too deep in some sections (the overlooks) for dogs, especially small dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: No bugs.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing lost or found on the trail.

Comments
Comments: Very icy snow, and lots of false summits, but a great trail. Expect some post-holes and expect for a bit of butt sliding on the descent in the steeper sections.
