Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot on gale river loop road is not plowed but is packed down. There is a hump you do need to drive over to get off the road to the parking area so low vehicles may have an issue.

Water Crossing Notes:
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: None to report for the short section I completed
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: trail is ice covered. My dog did slip a little but otherwise had no issues with the little distance that we did complete.
Bugs
Bugs: Sudden stomach bug. I'm pretty sure that it won't bother the rest of you.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Lost my dinner but it is hidden so you won't find it. Off trail and covered. No need to find it for me.

Comments
Comments: Due to a sudden stomach bug I only made it at most 2 miles into this hike. The road was easy going. I was unfamiliar with where the summer parking area and start of the trail was so you will find some very confused foot prints along the road. If I had looked at my map better sooner I would have not had the issues I did. Garfield trail is either covered in packed snow or ice. Don't let the bare ground look fool you. It is very icy where there is no snow. I only made it at most three quarters of a mile up the trail before I was forced to turn around. The snow was packed/frozen and minimal depth (I'm guessing the rain helped with that) so I did not need my snowshoes, however not knowing the conditions further up bring them.
