Comments
Comments: gale river rd plowed or nicely packed snow thanks to snowmobile users. One campsite had been used recently. Gale River trail packed down well, too, though fresh coating of snow higher up. Switched to snowshoes approx 1.75mi into the trail. I guess one person and dog were in front of me (without car in lot I assume they were dropped off) as the tracks were fresh. The person switched into snowshoes later than I did, near the juncture with the AT. The person turned straight towards South Twin, skipping the closed Hut. From that juncture onwards, mine were the only fresh tracks in the snow to the hut and Galehead summit.

Beautiful day at lower elevations. While S Twin was in the clouds, beautiful views from the hut and the vista point below Galehead summit of the Pemi Wilderness (Galehead summit was also sitting below the clouds). Sun and puffy white clouds took turns all day. By the descent, snow was melting in the lower 2mi of Gale River Trail and snow/water was dropping from the branches above. With the sunshine, it looked very pretty. A beautiful official 'winter walk'.
