| Comments: |
Up Glen boulder/ downs & out via Rocky Branch & bushwhack with party of 6. Trail was broken out up to Glen Boulder. From there we broke out down to the bushwhack shortcut just S. of the junc. Davis Path/ E. section of Isolation Tr. Everything from there to Isolation & on out to highway was hard-packed. One could bare-boot it easily. There were a few icy spots on the up below GB, but nothing bad. Lots of trees on the Davis path downed or laden with ice and bent double over the trail. The shortcut that carves off the corner of the Davis Path/ E. Isolation trail was packed as was the so called "Engine Hill" bushwhack. The route of the latter differed from previous years in that instead of picking up and slabbing the contour with little elevation change to the crest of Rocky Branch Ridge, it begins further S. along the Isolation Trail then climbs up, steeply at times, to the ridge crest. |
