Spectacular day on northern presis; valley way fine with light or no traction; half a mile from hut snowshoes start to come in handy to avoid postholing due to high temps and sunshine. Didn't take them off again til road at lowe's path. All trails were broken out, some more, some less. Only needed to do little trail breaking between Jefferson and Randolph path. The link no longer broken out and a mess, so we opted for road walk back to Appalachia instead. Fun day with other solo hiker. We teamed up on Adams but had been hiking in close proximity since Madison. It was so warm I hiked without gloves most of the time and we were overdressed in long sleeve shirts,... Delighted over any shade we got throughout the day. Spectacular views all day and hardly a breeze. A team of hikers was also in close proximity from Madison to Adams and we had some nice summit conversations. |
