| Comments: |
Patchy clouds to start, but then we rose above a carpet of clouds. Entire upper portion left us with radiant sunshine, bluebird sky, and a solid undercast pierced only by the snow covered peaks of the Franconia Ridge, and a few peaks in the Sandwich Range. Starting about tree line, all stunted conifers and cairns were transformed by rime ice into a legion of hoodoos. Incredible day.
Kestrel: T=27, W=24, WC=10 Wore snowshoes car to car, which would be recommended. Some barebooters evident on the trail, and hikers with microspikes managed fine. |
