Trail Maintenance Notes: All the trails were in good shape. There is one blowdown just north of the Kinsman Junction that is is walk under at the moment but will be a walk-around with just a little more snow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Jack and Andy had a great day and enjoyed the cooler weather. Andy found the descent down the south side of Cannon a little sketchy and did one bushwhack around a step and icy spot but other than that he was fine for the day.

Lost and Found: I left a pair of double rag mittens on a snow bank on the west side of the exit area just before the tramway exit.

Comments
Comments: The Kinsman Ridge trail on the north of Cannon is well boot-packed though choppy. Light traction is advisable but not absolutely required. There is a lot less traffic to the south of Cannon. Most of that traffic traveled via the Hi-Cannon trail. There was a single boot track that continued south and then onto the Lonesome Lake trail. I continued south on the Ridge trail and switched into snowshoes. We found the untracked snow depth to be 8-10 inches with some deeper drifting. The snow was light and unconsolidated and just deep enough to avoid sinking to most of the rocks. Most. We were happy to find a good track again from Kinsman junction to South Kinsman. I kept my snowshoes on but they were not necessary. Light traction would have worked. There were no tracks south after South Kinsman. Also no tracks on the Mt Kinsman trail from the west. Switched to spikes for Fishin Jimmy which worked fine. Some spotty ice but avoidable. The Lonesome Lake trail down from the hut is a packed sidewalk. An easy walk. To my disappointment there has been little traffic on the Pemi trail or the bike path from Lafayette Place back to the Tram. My tired legs were very disappointed. The weather was better than I expected today. Had some great views from South Kinsman. Too bad I dropped my pack with camera on North Kinsman! 5 degrees at the trailhead but the wind was never bad so I was comfortable all day. Great loop.
