Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: We rock hopped on the upper crossings (skipping two with a short wack but doing them on the hike back); skipped the lower crossings by doing the Engine Hill wack. At least one of the hikers we met said he did all the crossings on the trails and said he had no problems with any of them.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are a few muddy places and some step over and step on blowdowns along the way; nothing forcing us off trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Easy hike for the mighty tough little dog. Plenty of water, mostly shaded trail, easy grade and crossings and the usual fun time telling the border patrol not to mess with his car.
Bugs
Bugs: Not a problem. Perhaps the key was the wind on Isolation, the only place we stopped for more than a minute, and the fact we kept moving at a good clip where the wind wasn't a factor.

Comments
Comments: Another very comfortable day with some haze in the air and waves of changing lenticular clouds. Trails in good shape, quite fast. Wacks interesting although without winter views. Pepper and I hiked with Georg who did a splendid job leading the Engine Hill wacks and provided excellent conversation. I don't know what I did to deserve such good hiking companions. We met and enjoyed talking with one guy who had done all the Adirondack 4Ks and was planning on finishing the 100 highest tomorrow on Waumbek, 2 young guys who had camped at the Rocky Shelter, and a veteran VFTT hiker and daughter. Other than that we saw no one until a group nearing the end. What a great day to be on the trails.
