Comments
Comments: Snow cover was low, about 1-2" in lower section of Glencliff Trail, depth increased with altitude. Almost all ice was covered with snow, with the exception of some spots in the steep section before the junction with Carriage Road. Carriage Road had more snow but not quite enough in long enough stretches to justify putting on and taking off snowshoes two or three times. Snow is ankle deep in the worst spots. From the first cairn to summit, trail is combination of rock, ice, styrofoam snow and small drifts. Microspikes worked best for this section and for descending back to the trailhead. One more good snowstorm and most of the trail might be better for snowshoeing. Of course, these conditions will probably change with tomorrow's incoming weather, but this is what was there today. Beautiful morning with plenty of sunshine and summit in the clear!
