| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking at the Fox State Forest headquarters - huge lot is plowed and there were no other cars there this afternoon except for ones for the state forest. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Unpacked Powder, Slush |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Skis |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Larger crossings on Ridge Tr all had nice bridges. But other areas were quite wet and mostly easy to get around the edge on skis. Only dipped the skis in water a couple times, which, as usual is a PAIN because the clumping snow is difficult to get off the skis. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Excellent shape though I had a little trouble finding the trails at the junctions and the stretches up to the tower because of all the snow-laden trees and branches. |

Excellent afternoon XC skiing this state forest - BEAUTIFUL!!!! Snow not that deep - breaking trail was never difficult!!! I went past the tower and headed toward Monroe Hill proper via the Monroe Hill Trail but never found a trail heading towards the actual peak so I turned around and headed back. Carried the skis on the uphill but skied back - some of the little downhills were a little spicy.
Very fun place to explore - my first time there. Beautiful woods!!!! |
