Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All carefully rock hopped except first one. Couple of overnighters had let us know of doable crossing 50-100 feet upstream (thanks guys). This first crossing had solid enough ice to cross on with a steep climb up the bank on the other side to pick up trail. Ice was solid but with the thickness you carefully tip-toe on wondering what if. Upcoming warm temps may take this away.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Signage good; temp sign at Isolation Spur jct. along with larger Davis Path sign. The usual blowdowns and unavoidable plunges into mud/water.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: One small pup who'd spent Friday night at shelter and had lost one shoe may not have enjoyed the overnight. Impossible to keep paws dry but plenty of water.

Lost and Found
Lost and Found: We were looking for the lost shoe but did not find.

Comments
Comments: At start of day unbroken trails beyond first brook crossing in 2-6" with deeper drifted areas. Group of 5 ahead of us had tracked through to last crossing finding many of the slush/mud holes and Emerel took lead after that finding some more; as well as route finding which was difficult in a few areas. Even with it packed out now it's most likely one will take a step into deep mud/water so recommend nice shoes. Engine Hill BW not tracked and we figured it could be wetter in there than main trails so opted against using. Nice day. Comfy temps. Manageable wind. Great views. Congrats to 3 of the 5 on finishing the NH48. A tough but enjoyable day.
