Did this one solo. Despite so fresh foot prints at the summit I was the only one that approache the summit from the tram parking lot. I had fresh snow in front of me for the entire day. There was 1"-3" of snow on the trails at the lower elevations and 4"-6" at the higher elevations. This trip was harder that it should have been but the fresh snow camouflaged the rocks and crevices between them so many steps were a bit tricky on the way up. It was easier on the way down since I could simply retrace my footprints to know where to step. I started without traction and was fine until about the 0.9 mile marker where there is steep Ice. Needed them after that. Didn't see another person on the trail, which is what I expected to encounter earlier in the day when I hiked Waumbek (saw two other people). The snow guns were in full use at Cannon. |
