	Trails:	Starr King Trail

	Date of Hike:	Wednesday, November 19, 2014

	Parking/Access Road Notes:	They are getting ready to close it - one or two more snowfalls and they will have enough snow to plow and create a big enough pile to prevent cars from getting to the lot. The current pile was easily bypassed.

	Surface Conditions:	Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Slush

	Recommended Equipment:	Light Traction

	Water Crossing Notes:	All water crossings were either dry or frozen.

	Trail Maintenance Notes:	There were three blowdowns that look like they have been there for a while. There were two step-overs (one before Starr King and one after) and one large one that has forced people to create a new, albeit small, way around it (before Starr King).

	Dog-Related Notes:	Didn't see any dogs out there.

	Bugs:	There were no bugs.

	Lost and Found:	Didn't lose/find anything.


	Comments:	Hiked this one solo. I was the first car in the lot but was soon joined in the lot by Bill Cronin. I was in front most of the day so I got to see and travel on fresh snow. There's about 1-3 inches at the lowers elevations and about 4-6 inches at the higher elevations. There were a few spots down low where the ground was mud with an ice crust over it. The skies were gray and there were no views, which was fine since this was an exercise hike not a sightseeing tour. A light snow fell most of the day but there wasn't enough to re-fill our footprints. It was nice to talk with Bill for a few minutes - he's getting close to 576. As I got near the parking lot saw another guy starting up - didn't expect so much company on the trail on a Weenesday (did have Cannon all to myself later in the day).
