Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Kali finished her November list today with these two. She loved the howling wind heading up Gulfside from the Clay Loop. She likes the wind in her ears, it makes her feel like she is running faster! This girl always comes alive above treeline when her mommy is about to panic and reminds me this is all for fun. <3

Comments
Comments: I headed up to bag George and Monroe. My plan was to use Jewell Trail up and down to avoid any flow ice on Ammo. Heading up to Washington was interesting. Once we broke treeline on the Jewell, it is really boney and hard walking. I fell a few times. Then when we were on Gulfside heading up by the Cog to the summit, I could only see to the next cairn. It was slow going and lots of route finding. We had that summit to ourselves for once though! Until the weather guy came out and started banging on the instruments to knock off the ice. Kali let him know we were there and with a wave we were off. Heading down to Lakes of the Clouds hut for lunch was slow going also. Not so much route finding now but snow drifts up to my thigh followed by wind scoured snow that is firm. Makes you walk funny when you don't know how to plant the next foot, will it sink or swim? LOL. Once at the hut, I decided that after Monroe, I was going to look fear in the face and go down Ammo. 3 miles to the car sounded good to me. I put on my hillsounds after descending Monroe and headed down. Two years ago, I headed up Ammo with friends when it was all flow ice and very scary. I tried reminding myself of the first single season finish I had where we butt sledded the Ammo. Two very different experiences on the same trail. My bravery paid off. I was down in two shakes and it wasn't bad at all. I even got to see other hikers! I had been alone all day, just hiking in the weather. We greeted and I asked them if I was nuts to descend this route, no one seemed to think so. Great day out, I do love completing goals with this amazing mutt I live with.
