Nice trip up Eisenhower, with typical November conditions of fall at the bottom and winter weather at the top. It was cold enough that the ledgy sections in the middle portion of the trail had some ice on them, but easy enough to step around. Above the stone gateway, snow and ice increased - mostly snow that had partially melted and then frozen solid, although some sections could still be rock hopped. Area at the waterfall/icefall and short steep section above very icy with thick solid ice. Traction definitely useful from waterfall to talus slope. From talus slope to summit, not enough snow or ice to need traction but certainly cold and windy enough today for winter jacket, over mitts, neck gaiter, etc. |
