 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I paid for parking at Lowe's Store. No one was there when we arrived, but I left a note on the door with the money inside. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet/Slippery Rock, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow - Drifts, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Water bars could use some clearing on bottom 1.7 miles of Lowe's Path. Also, there are a bunch of birthday balloons caught in the upper branches of a tree just off the trail about a mile from the parking lot (Lowe's Path). We tried to take them down, but couldn't reach them. |

 | Lost and Found: |
LOST - Sage dropped her winter gloves. They are either at the Log Cabin or they are somewhere on Lowe's Path between the trailhead and Log Cabin. They are waterproof children's winter gloves with a stripe down each of them. They are sentimental and we'd really like them back, so if you find them, please contact me! We'll happily pay for the cost of you shipping them to us. Thanks! |

No snow until Log Cabin, then some slippery stuff on Randolph Path. The snow was never deep enough for snowshoes, and enough rocks poked out to make it difficult for microspikes. We carried 'spikes but never used them. Still, best to keep them with you from here on out.
The wind made things fun an interesting above treeline, but no one got knocked over and the temperatures were warm. A beautiful, sunny day up there!
CONGRATULATIONS to eleven-year-old Alex for completing the list of Trailwrights peaks! We have had such a wonderful time with this list -- we learned so much (bushwhacking!!) -- and we are grateful for the opportunity to do trailwork with the Trailwrights organization. Many thanks to Hal and Peggy for creating this list, and for heading Trailwrights!
Many thanks to Sage, too, who has come with us on most of these hikes and now has only 16 peaks left for Trailwrights herself.
My foot had been healing from a mishap on Sam Adams a month ago, but now it is thoroughly trashed again, so we won't be hiking for a few weeks (at least) until everything is all healed up. The sacrifice was worth it, though -- we had a fantastic day.
There will be a trip report on my blog by late tomorrow evening (Thursday, 11/13) |
