 | Comments: |
We had planned on hitting Jefferson by way of Jewell trail and then retrace our steps to Mt Washington. However, the road up to Jefferson Notch was driveable and we took advantage of it. Caps Ridge trail was actually well packed out by weekend hikers. Put on microspikes at the foot of the first cap and kept them on until we entered the woods on Jewell trail. The snow drifts along the Gulfside trail were deep but the weekend hikers had made it easy for us to follow their postholes. These sections are too short to warrant snowshoes. Larry and I had the trails and summits to ourselves. The summits were in the clouds and stayed so but we enjoyed our hike. |
