Comments: The trail is in good shape. Leaves cover the trail for sections of the first mile, so you need to be a little cautious not to twist an ankle or slip. The trail is dry and pleasant from there to treeline. There are lots of wooden steps along the way, so it's a little harder on the knees but easier on the calves and Achilles. Above treeline there were some patches of ice, but no traction is necessary yet. It wouldn't hurt to carry microspikes just in case.

As this was the first time I was summitting Chocorua, I was unsure how steep some of the rocks would be near the top. It wasn't as bad as I expected given the appearance of the mountain from a distance. A few handholds are needed, but there are no sections of real exposure. I would say it's comparable in difficulty to Monadnock. Near the very top, the path appears to lead you straight up to the summit, which will get very steep, but you're better off looking for the yellow trail markers to the right which will wrap around to the right of the summit on a much easier path.
