| Water Crossing Notes: |
Water crossings required rock hopping, log balancing, or minimal wading... I wore mid-cut boots and short gaiters--my feet kept dry. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails were well-kept. No major blowdowns. Dwindling snow was clinging around 4000 feet. I imagine it will be gone within a week or so. Greenleaf Hut was open. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
I saw a lot of dogs on the trail, even a young woman with a Jack Russell! |
|
| Bugs: |
Out, and biting. Especially towards the end of the day on the lower portions of Old Bridle. |

| Comments: |
Recent trip reports had us a little skittish in regards to the snow, but it appears a lot of melting has occurred since the May 13 report. The weather was perfect today, visibility on the ridge trail was just about perfect--Mount Washington loomed in the distance, still covered with a good deal of snow.
Being my first trip across the ridge (foul weather ended things on Haystack last year), I have to say it was amazing. The trails were crowded, although the lower portions on both Falling Waters and Old Bridle weren't as bad. Greenleaf was open, but unmanned (and given the weather, I cannot really fault the caretakers for taking a swim). |
