Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple blowdowns one in a very tough spot to get around - 3500' or so.

Comments
Comments: I didn't expect 19 Mile Brook Trail to get into my Top 5 Trails list! What a beautiful trail on a beautiful day. Nineteen Brook is hauling! There's one point where it gets squeezed through a couple big erratics and the water is basically shooting straight out.

The trail is dry through about the first mile with sopping wet sections scattered thereafter. When you get to about 3200 or 3500 (I need an altimeter) the snow begins. It doesn't get obnoxious until Wildcat Ridge Trail. There are narrow sections of switchbacks with steeply pitched 3 and 4 foot unstable snowpack. It's too wide to walk on the dry edge and very soft. It was basically posthole hell. The monorail is with us in spirit only. I motorcycle-post-holed at one point negating any chance of ever having kids. Microspikes helped.

It was a gorgeous day though. High 70s at the base, maybe 40s or 50s at the summit. If you're trying to get newbies to go with you on hikes, 19 Mile Brook Trail is very mild and not too rocky with LOTS to look at (Brook, waterfalls, etc.)
