Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Jewell was a tale of three trails. Up high (above tree line) it was poorly blazed. Few decent cairns. People were going all over the place. some of these "trails" are leading to vegetation being destroyed and erosion. Middle had a number of head bangers that need to be cleared. Lower section had some mud way down but was very nice otherwise. Other trails were fine.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Met Pepper (and John) today on Davis Path. Seemed to be having a great time. Saw a few other dogs as well. Might need to carry some water.
Bugs
Bugs: Some gnat like units on Jewell.

Comments
Comments: Decided to take advantage of the last day of summer (I know its not until Sept. but when you are a teacher and have to go back to work tomorrow, this was the last day of summer), and the predicted nice weather to get above tree line and get some peaks Karen has not been to. No crowds on any of the peaks we were on, and few on the trails. Wonderful way to end a great hiking/traveling summer.
