Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Rock hopping on first stream crossing was do able. As for most of them on Castle Ravine, almost impassable could bushwhack and find a tough rock hop with big leaps but highly recommend water shoes.

Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one 5 month old lab mix on castle ravine. They turned around at base of slide probably due to lack of hiking experience of the dog

Comments
Comments: Good day despite the 40% chance of showers. The Castle Ravine trail was well maintained with signs and cairns. However all the brook crossings were close to impassable by rock hopping, if you haven't done this trail it ascends through a brook waterfall right before it reaches the base of the slide. Some required severe bushwhacking but I brought watershoes so it was ok. The slide was good and easy to follow not as worn as Great Gulf though. Castle trail was well marked as well. Shale at top was almost sharp from ice and wind erosion in the winter and the trail also not as worn until there was open ground and the castles. The castles might are well worn. Lots of trail erosion, but passable. I found some of the scrambling a little difficult at 5'4" because I couldn't reach a few foot holds as we were descending. Most of the trail was damp after the castle. I'm assuming because of the occasional clouds hanging about.
