Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at Zealand trailhead on Friday morning - about half full, nearly full when I got back Saturday night - is a paylot
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Two crossing on relocated section of gale river rock hops, crossings on Zealand easy as usual
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One step over blowdown on Zealand, a few spots on Twinway between South Twin and Bondcliff trail junction could use a bit of brushing
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Many a canine out of various shapes and sizes - other than water crossings low on Galehead and on Zealand trail plus the huts and Guyot trails have little water along the way so pack extra.
Bugs
Bugs: They were actually out and biting (at least me) - some breezes kept them from being a total nuisance.

Comments
Comments: Glad I took the time off for this trek. Normally I'm out over the Bonds to Lincoln Woods but took a different route this trip. Caught the shuttle from zealand to gale river and hiked to galehead hut (packed!) for a stay on Friday and then trekked back to my car with a detour to West Bond. Clouds and a few sprinkles on Friday but Saturday started in the clear - clouds did roll in later in the day but still dry and great views. Gale river was damp with the usual mud on the relocated section. Some wet rock heading up Twinway to South Twin but nothing slippery, a few patches of mud over to Bondcliff junction on Twinway. Bondcliff and West Bond spur easy going as was Twinway back to Zealand hut and then Zealand trail out. Lots of folks out today. Met numerous folks heading to all parts - out to Garfield from Galehead hut, others to North Twin and others to the Bonds. Oddly, met more than a dozen along the way that were headed to Zealand Mtn as a part of their 48. Took my time and got as far as West Bond before heading back over North Guyot, Guyot, and Zealand though since I've hit Zealand Summit didn't bother this time. Met uncountable folks on the trails and had great conversations on South Twin, North Guyot, West Bond, and Zealand mtn and all places in between. Glad to see so many out enjoying this great weekend.
