Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We parked in one of the lower Cog lots, as they no longer appear to be charging. Saves about a mile total of hiking on muddy lower Ammi connecting to the lower USFS lot.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: N.A.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The log bridge about a mile up the Ammi from the Cog has lost much of its footing since construction following severe trail erosion by TS Irene; looks to be very suspect and dangerous.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Did not see any today, but plenty of water on the Ammi, not so much on rest of route.
Bugs
Bugs: Not bad today, given breeze and cloud, and some rain showers.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Picked up some trash along the trails; but, I still do no pick up discarded tissue and tp, which seems to be getting more common on trails in the Whites.

Comments
Comments: Nicest route to Isolation, in my opinion; the long 1700 vertical foot hike back up Boott Spur from the saddle north of Isolation is fairly gentle gradient. Lots of exposure above treeline, if you like that sort of thing. About same mileage as the approaches from Rt 16.
