Mt. Passaconaway - Dicey's Mill Trail - 8-2-2014

Hiking Trail Conditions Report
	Peaks	Mt. Passaconaway, NH

	Trails:	Dicey's Mill Trail

	Date of Hike:	Saturday, August 2, 2014

	Parking/Access Road Notes:	Plenty of parking at the Ferncroft lot @ 7:00 but cars were lined to the end of the driveway when I returned @ 12:30.

	Surface Conditions:	Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable

	Recommended Equipment:

	Water Crossing Notes:	The river crossing half way in can be rock hopped.

	Trail Maintenance Notes:	No issues.

	Dog-Related Notes:	I saw just one - ahead of it's hiking partner.

	Bugs:	They were a little annoying in the late morning when the clouds lessened and the temps rose.

	Lost and Found:	Found: 14 pieces of candy wrappers, fruit stickers and other remnants along the trail plus one empty chocolate snacky cake package stashed behind a fallen tree. I was happy to pack this litter out but saddened it was there to begin with.


	Comments:	The trail was mostly dry with minimal areas of minor mud and running water which do not pose a problem. The possibility of rain held off but when I arrived at the summit it was completely in the clouds so the nearby views were nonexistent. On my descent the sun even started to make some appearances. Ultimately the camera and the rain gear got free rides. Even so I only encountered four other hikers and one dog on the trail while having the summit all to myself. Another fine day to be outside!
