Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Appalachia full at 8:30 a.m.Less sloppy parking would have opened up a spot or two. Busy weekend!

Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Pretty easy rock hops
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Most trails in good shape; Hincks would benefit from some rock work and water bars near the bottom; it is kind of a lousy piece of trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw two dogs; one seemed happy; the other very scared of the wind on Mt Jefferson
Bugs
Bugs: Too windy for bugs to be an issue for most of the day, though they fund me down low

Comments
Comments: Despite a daunting higher summits forecast, it turned out to be a nice day--albeit windy. Great views! I had planned to do a ridge walk among the northern peaks but decided to head up Randolph Path, stay pretty sheltered for a bit, let the winds subside, and see how things looked at the ridge. Worst of the wind was at Edmunds Col but it was not as bad as the 50-70 forecasted and was lighter on Gulfside until the Jefferson summit--maybe 35 or so on the true summit and lighter just below. Other hikers who had come from Adams said they had to crawl there though. I took a meandering series of RMC paths down.
