Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No pups with us today but what a perfect trail for dogs! Met a few awesome hiking dogs on this trip.
Bugs
Bugs: If you have a full suit of armor, consider bringing it. Bugs are out in full force! We had no issues while moving, and, surprisingly, none while resting on the fire tower. Deet alone was not enough to deter the squadrons of evil biting winged things that hovered at and near the summit just under the tower and flung themselves into eyes, ears, and noses. Netting solved the problem. If you don't have armor, consider netting.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Near the trail head, we found a whistle/flashlight emergency tool with a black breakaway cord. If you lost it, please contact us and we can pop it in the mail to you.

Comments
Comments: Fabulous summer hike! Easy to moderate grades all the way made this a pleasant hike for conversation to and from the summit for our group of three. Views from the ridge and the summit were breathtaking. We enjoyed soaking up the sun on the fire tower and chatting with the other hikers over lunch. There were just a handful of us in total, making this especially nice. I expected a ridge hike on a clear day to draw crowds, but we didn't encounter many people at all.
