Comments
Comments: We went up Hale Brook and it was just cloudy, still a lot of pink and white Lady Slipper to see along side the trail. Brooks were pretty but were easily crossed. Sun tried to come out while we munched our sandwiches on the summit. We descended via the Firewarden's Trail, gosh I don't think this trail is unknown and little used anymore. No blow downs, evidence of recent removal of blow downs. We cleared a few water bars, mud was minimal. Trail path is well worn and easy to follow and at the North Twin Trail river crossing avoidance herd path there is a rock cairn--so there is no mystery or trail skills necessary to find the trail intersection anymore. Walking through the birch glades and ferns was magical. A lot of people have used this trail since I last hiked it two years ago. We only meet one couple descending Hale Brook and no one was on the summit. Did the other ten cars of people really all go down the Lend-a-hand trail? Cloudy skies but no rain.
