Water Crossing Notes: Minimal
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trailhead sign was not yet up at the base. The trail was not blazed at a left turn, on the climb, at 3750' or so, just above the large table rocks at left. Descending in this area, you take the left cut off the road, descending from the Tramway building, about 50 yards below the wind protection fence which is at right as you descend.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: This trail does not have much water. There's a stream on the level slabbing road cut at maybe 2750', in wet times of the year at least, and likewise a small stream in the col between Mittersill and Cannon, but I bet it's dry much of the year. Plan to bring plenty of water for yourself and your dog.
Bugs
Bugs: Minimal - I got bitten a few times and applied spray at 2750' or so - the level-ish road area. No further issues until late in the afternoon, when, hot and taking a break, I took off my shirt at about 3000'. Only stopped once again until the car after resuming the hike, and had no further bug problems.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Saw some abandoned beer cans and bottles along the way, but not too many.

Comments
Comments: Mittersill Peak has some excellent views on a clear day. The road section from about 2400' to 2700' is pretty rough with poor footing, especially on the descent, but pretty rhodoras, this time of year, and opening views compensate amply. There's a very mucky section just above this rough road stretch.

When the trail crosses past the top of the Mittersill lift, the views to the northern Presidentials begin. Expanding views of Garfield and Franconia Ridge accompany and encourage you all along this pretty climb, with fine views into Vermont along the way, especially from Mittersill Peak on up.
