Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at Marshfield Station (no issues or fee today). Summer USFS lot gated. Mt. Clinton Road on this side looked to be full of blowdowns. Jefferson Notch Road gated and looking muddy.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Small Patches, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow/Ice - Postholes, Snow - Spring Snow
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: First two crossings on Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail were running a bit high, but rock hoppable. Third crossing (up high) was still snowbridged. Above that, a bit tricky, as the foot traffic has been deviating from the trail and there are some snow embankments.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail in decent shape - mostly minor blowdowns. Jewell Trail has had some excellent brushing done up high, but there are some blowdowns down low, as well as an uprooted tree rootball sort of blocking the trail (on the Cog connector portion).
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sideslope on Crawford Path and Jewell Trail could pose an issue if things set up.
Bugs
Bugs: None

Comments
Comments: Patchy snow started on the Ammo just after the end of the Cog connector (muddy up to that point). Snowshoes went on after the first brook crossing (unstable snow, wicked deep postholing if attempted with bareboots) and stayed on until the crag just before the hut. 2-3 feet of snow on the flats, perhaps 3-4 feet starting at the steeps. Recent avalanche has made the flats a heck of a lot more scenic, however the debris hasn't really affected the trail. Nothing to see of it beyond the Gem Pool. Monroe Loop mostly snow free. Also barebooted the Crawford Path, though traction could be needed in the snowfields if they set up. Very little snow between Mt. Washington and Mt. Jefferson. Plenty of snow on the Jewell Trail starting at the scrub line. Snowshoes necessary down to at least 3,800 feet (snow 4 feet deep). From the lower viewpoint to the bridge, still generally snow covered, but patchy enough to make snowshoes vexing. Muddy where not snow covered.
