Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Major crossings were across Austin Brook, which was ripping: fun cable car (you *MUST* be strong and tall to move it - fording the river was *NOT* an option today after the rain!!!) Other crossings of Austin Brook were OK if you find a good hiking stick by the side of the trail and look upstream eachtime - submerged rocks depending on flow (it was high, tho).
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Orange Trail/Wiggin Trail - looks like there are two trails here - I hiked both, and the more northern one is a head-scratcher west of Wiggin Rock - no treadway and some missing blazes - I had to bushwhack down to the Blue Trail and climb back up the hill to find the rest of the Orange Trail - later, I found another Orange Trail and traced that out. Most trails are well-marked but I lost a couple here and there anyway near the Inn, making several unnecessary water crossings. Scudder Trail is VERY wide right now - was turned into a skidder road for very recent logging operations. It is VERY muddy and slippery!!! Blazes on the trees are infrequent - go by the flagging!!!!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: plenty of water - I kept refilling along the way
Bugs
Bugs: none!!!! Trees aren't really out yet here and neither are the bugs!!! :)

Comments
Comments: Very fun hike today!!! Mid-morning only misted though everything was pretty wet. Views really opened up late morning - outstanding!!!!! Unfortunately, tho, I did take a pretty nasty fall because the trails are not used much, and moss grows pretty well on the rocks - lots of slippery spots!!! Outstanding ledges on the way to Mt Ingalls!!!!

On the way back from Mt Ingalls, I decided to go for Austin Brook Trail (up to the Dryad Falls Tr junction) - wasn't sure about the water crossings from the WMG - couldn't tell if they were big or small. They weren't too big after all - and the views from the logging landing of Dryad Falls were amazing from a distance!!! Wow!!!!

Never saw a soul all day!!! 13.5 miles with all the little detours, etc - longer than I expected - did not finish redlining the area today!!!!
