Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The two biggest crossings on the Avalon Trail flowing fast and ankle to calf deep. Almost all rocks were submerged and crossings will require feet getting wet. Water was definitely higher on the way out than the way in.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Looks like someone has been working on Avalon Trail; brushing and some blowdown removal has been done, as well as possibly some fresh paint on the blazes? Supplies are in place at the small ledge about .1-.2 above the Avalon Summit spur for new bog bridges. Yay!

Comments
Comments: Trail mostly dry or damp in the usual places until the last short pitches up to the A-Z Trail junction. Here is where the ice/snow appeared, although it was easy to step around or use the exposed rocks. Above the junction, more ice patches, with plenty of rocks for the step section. Traction may or may not help here, since there is so much exposed rock. Monorail starts in the flat section right before the junction with the Avalon Summit Spur. Beyond the Avalon Summit Spur, the trail runs the gamut of spring conditions: very narrow, slippery, crumbling monorail, ice, mud, running water, and postholes (the thigh-deep kind on some places!). Highlight of the day was the short detour to the Beecher and Pearl Cascades, which were running very full and loud today!
