| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
As mention in the previous trail report the Ravine Lodge road is open. But take caution of the many stones poking through the road surface. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Small Patches |
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
none |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail is in good shape but long sections of ice and some monorail makes sense to wear microspikes on the upper half of the trail. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Had Toby with me and he handled the icy section easily. Met another dog who invited him to play. Plenty of water along the trail. |
| Bugs: |
None. Maybe the foggy and windy conditions kept them still at bay. |
| Lost and Found: |
I found a nice silver handcrafted earring near the summit. Email me and I'll gladly send it to you. |

Despite the foggy and windy conditions there were lots of people on the trail today. Glad to meet Larry and his group to celebrate his 70th birthday on top. Larry had climbed it some 242 times (if I remember it correctly). Maybe that's why he has the trail name Crazy Larry.
Soon after turning away from Gorge Brook there is a long icy section that is difficult to negotiate without spikes, particularly on the way down. With other icy sections there are still parts of a monorail, but the snow depth is minimal and it is well enough packed down that one does not posthole. The summit is all bare, but with the wind and fog I didn't linger for long. Enjoyed talking to Karen on the last mile out to the car. |
