Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: We bailed on Webster, because the Silver Cascade Brook was too much for shorties! The Flume Cascade Brook was challenging, but 30 feet above the crossing, you will find two large logs that make a nice bridge! Due to the big melt, a lot of this hike was nothing but water crossings!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Excellent, but a few bog bridges on the Elephant Head Spur need replacing.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Make sure they obey so they don't go sliding off Bugle Cliff! Higher elevations were very windy, if yours doesn't like wind, wait for another day or leave them at home. Same if they don't like getting their feet wet!
Bugs
Bugs: Too windy up top, a few non-biters near the trail head.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Dropped my little shovel near the top, planned on getting it on the way down. Some nice person stuck it in the dirt so it wouldn't slide away. Thanks!

Comments
Comments: This was supposed to be a loop - Webster, then Jackson. Thank God we tried Webster first. Five minutes into the trail we discovered the Silver Cascade Brook was a chance for us to be the flat lander story of the week in the Union Leader! Jackson was a gamut of conditions. We wanted waterfalls, we got all sorts of falling waters. It had great beauty, but was also a challenging, sloppy mess! The trail is snow free until shortly after you start up the Mt. Jackson Branch. Then it is a mix of everything possible this time of year! Bring light traction and a sense of humor or you will be sorry!
