| Comments: |
Trail was generally snow free up to the Bald Peak junction, though a bit wet and muddy in places. Patchy new snow started above the junction, as well as plenty of mud and slush. Perhaps about 3 miles up, monorail started under the new snow. We opted to bareboot, as things were pretty sloppy, but the underlying monorail was firm. The ridge was still generally snowcovered and firm. The scramble ledge north of North Kinsman is still nicely filled in with snow. On the other side (heading toward South Kinsman), those ledges are bare and a bit wet. Snowshoes went for a ride, but had the monorail softed a bit more, we would have needed them. Still a good 2-3 feet of snow in places up high, perhaps a bit more in the woods below South Kinsman. |
