Early start on account of afternoon work schedule. 6-11:30 hike worked well as the trails were hard packed until leaving Washington. Microspikes used from 0.3 mile spot up to Lakes. A few tricky sideslope spots near the river down low but never felt the need for anything more on Ammo. steeps. Used Hillsound Pros from hut to Monroe and then up to Washington. Solid enough so you could walk any where and enough snowpack remaining to cover vegetation. Wore snowshoes from Washington down to halfway house on Cog tracks; then barebooted on mostly dry trail. First time walking near the tracks and a lot of nice views to be had. Tough on knees however. Great day; wish I had it all available; a great Prezzie day! Would definitely recommend traction right now and there still is quite a snow depth in places. |
