Comments
Comments: Lower section of the Mt Tecumseh Trail through the hardwood forest was bare ground. Saw some Trout Lilies in bloom. Snow and frozen slush appeared when the trail entered the evergreen forest before the last crossing of Tecumseh Brook. Most of the rest of the trail to the summit of Mt Tecumseh was snow or frozen slush that could be bare booted with light traction or hiked with snowshoes. The trail between Mt Tecumseh and West Tecumseh was mostly snow covered with a rudimentary monorail that was decaying. This stretch is best walked with snowshoes. Saw some moose tracks. There was some spring runoff into the softening snow in places.
Met and talked with many other hikers today. Some other hikers reported that Tripoli Road is still gated. Nice views from the summit including the distant Mt Washington.
