Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: After a quick alternator change on the side of the road in West Rumney I was back on track. Rt 113 and 113A will still rattle your fillings out but seem to be getting a little better as the frost heaves go down. I was the only car in the lot today. Parking for both Flat Mtn Pond Tr (east end) and McCrillis Path are at the same lot.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow - Spring Snow, Snow/Ice - Postholes
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The culvert on Flat Mtn Pond Tr was failing, creating another crossing just before it about 1 foot deep an5 6 feet wide. I was able to cross on some logs that washed up. the crossing of White Brook was easily done just upstream.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Flat Mtn Pond, Rollins, and Blueberry Lege Tr were in good shape. Lots of debris and several blowdowns along McCrillis Tr and McCrillis Path. A couple required a quick detour and a couple others were crawl unders. I removed a few but many were to big for my little saw. Where the McCrillis Tr enters the conifers it has become a bit brushy.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Marlie led the way today and helped with route finding. The ledges presented no problems for her as she was already at the bottom before I even got a look.
Bugs
Bugs: None seen yet....
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a blck EMS glove liner on McCrillis Tr.

Comments
Comments: Now that the snow is receeding we can get back to redlining. I barebooted the entire day and carried micros and snowshoes. The snow started once into the conifers on McCrillis Tr. I could have worn the snowshoes for the last half mile as there was no apparent monorail but postholing was minimal so I stuck with the boots. Some may prefer the micros for extra grip. Rollins Tr had 3 feet of snow still but also had a firm monorail that was easy to walk on but would have been tough to stay on top with snowshoes. The ledges were mostly free of ice and snow making for an easy descent. I was surprised to see remnants of snow still on McCrillis Path.
