Comments
Comments: Dry trail to start, small patchy monorail started on the old logging road and increased in size after the left turn up into the woods with plenty of boot sucking mud patches in between. We put on micros/snowshoes near the right turn up the bank and away from the river - there was no perfect traction choice with the ice and monorail of varying stability, but any type of traction helped - some may prefer snowshoes but not a requirement today with the colder temps. A few extended bare patches past the junction with KRT but once near the junction with the old Mt. Cabot Trail, the snow depth slowly increases with up to 2 1/2-3 feet on the ridge. Well defined easy path to follow from the cabin to the summit. Up to 1/2 inch of snow accumulation up high during the hike, but we had it all - rain, sleet, snow and even sunny breaks on the way down. Great hike with Hannah and Ali.
