| Peaks |
East Osceola, Mt. Osceola, NH |
| Trails: |
Greeley Ponds Trail, Mt. Osceola Trail |
| Date of Hike: |
Friday, April 25, 2014 |
| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Started at the Kancamagus Hwy trailhead. Plenty of parking early in the morning, but the lot was nearly full when we got back. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow - Spring Snow, Slush |
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Snowbridges over the brooks held fine, but not sure how much longer they will last. Ones without snowbridges are narrow and easy to cross. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A couple blowdowns, but not major enough to confuse the trail. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Wouldn't recommend bringing a dog due to the chimney (short but steep rock scramble) |
| Bugs: |
None! Yes. |
| Lost and Found: |
My friend lost his GoPro. It is most likely within a half mile or so above the Greeley Ponds Trail and Mt. Osceola Trail junction. If going up, probably on the right hand side, may have slid off the trail some distance. That's where he last fell, and it is most likely there. Phone number is written on the GoPro, and whoever returns it will get a cash reward. |
