Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks East Osceola, Mt. Osceola, NH
Trails
Trails: Greeley Ponds Trail, Mt. Osceola Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, April 25, 2014
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Started at the Kancamagus Hwy trailhead. Plenty of parking early in the morning, but the lot was nearly full when we got back.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow - Spring Snow, Slush
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Snowbridges over the brooks held fine, but not sure how much longer they will last. Ones without snowbridges are narrow and easy to cross.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple blowdowns, but not major enough to confuse the trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Wouldn't recommend bringing a dog due to the chimney (short but steep rock scramble)
Bugs
Bugs: None! Yes.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: My friend lost his GoPro. It is most likely within a half mile or so above the Greeley Ponds Trail and Mt. Osceola Trail junction. If going up, probably on the right hand side, may have slid off the trail some distance. That's where he last fell, and it is most likely there. Phone number is written on the GoPro, and whoever returns it will get a cash reward.
