Comments
Comments: No snow on bushwhack from Little River Road, small avoidable patches on the first section of the N. Twin Trail. The North Twin herdpath was the same, the Firewarden's Trail was mostly snow free for the the first half mile to mile, then began the patchy snow and monorail, with snow coverage and depth increasing with altitude. Monorail is not as well developed as on other trails with more traffic, but it is there. Snow depth varies, with still 2 feet of snow or maybe more at the higher elevations. We bare-booted to the summit and used snowshoes/microspikes for the decent until we ran out of snow because the snow was softening up in the warm temps. The summit area is a mix of snow, mud and bare rocks. Conditions will change quickly with rain/warm temps this week. Very warm, sunny and pleasant day out with Schorman, Lady Di, and Cameron.
