| Water Crossing Notes: |
The main crossing was low for this time of year...but higher than usual. We crossed at the new trail location in the morning -- mostly rock hopping but some submerged boots. Descending we crossed at the old trail and just went for it with snowshoes on. Boots were covered by water but no problem. Some of the smaller brooks have lost the snow bridges making for some jump overs or walk arounds. |

No major blowdowns |

| Comments: |
We barebooted the road both ways. In the morning the ice on the road was frozen and descending it was very soft. Road wont be clear for several days at least.
Put on spikes at the trail head and used them until the beginning of the long climb when we switched to snowshoes and stayed in them descending until we reached the road. The long sidehill had a stable base though narrow in places. The snow on the sidehill is still very deep so as long as it stays firm the trail will be fine. Lower down there is a relatively stable monorail starting to form. Signal Ridge is partially clear. Deep snow remains on the summit. If you need Carrigain in April, conditions are pretty good--though if temps stay above freezing the soft snow will be become more difficult. Great views from the ridge and summit. Welcome Amelia -- you will surely be roaming the hills soon. |
