Comments
Comments: gorgeous day...snow and ice line is above the upper crossing and we put on light traction there. this proved problematic as there was much balling up underfoot. Hillsound trail crampons worked the best. A few stretches of pretty solid blue ice with occasional narrow monorail and different snow textures. We had snowshoes on by the time we reached the ridge and left them on for most of the descent. For sure in the softening snow this was the footware of choice today. Other folks struggling with spikes which gave no purchase at all in most places. Lots of punched out spots and postholes in the 3-4 foot snowpack along the ridge but with the softening snow the snowshoes were ok. Great views . thanks Ali for a nice day out
