Today was a day to be on the Presidentials. Our planned hike of Washington and Monroe yesterday became Eisenhower, Pierce, and Jackson because of the forecasted high winds. Today there was 110 mile visibility and no winds. That also made for a perfect day atop Tom, Field, and Willey.
We arrived at the lot at Crawford Depot and the only cars there were those belonging to our group. There were nine of us today - some old faces and some new. We put our spikes on right away and they stayed on until we arrived back at the cars - the snowshoes came along for what I hope is their last ride of the season. The views from the summits of Tom (Carrigain) and the lookout at Field (Presidentials) were some of the best I've seen up there.
Did this one "solo" with the Randomites. |
